Artist Statement / Contact Information

Photography is a means for me to convey my thoughts, ideas, and feelings about the world around us.  The world that we have created and are responsible for improving and maintaining, and the world that was here before us and that we have a duty to preserve and protect.  My favorite aspect of photography is exploration.  Finding new subject matter or finding a way to capture an image from a unique perspective.

I currently shoot all of my photographs using a Canon EOS Elan 35mm camera.  I use Agfa film for my black and white prints and process and print them myself in a traditional darkroom.  The pictures are printed on fiber-based paper for maximum archival quality.  Since each black and white print is produced in a traditional darkroom, there is no digital manipulation of any of my fine-art black-and-white photographs.  My color photographs are shot on a variety of films and are processed and printed by a professional photo lab.

If you are interested in purchasing any of the limited edition, fine-art photographs on this web-site, please contact me at steve@hankinsphoto.com.  Be sure to include the picture you are interested in and the size.

I am also available for photo assignments.  For information on photo assignments, please email me at steve@hankinsphoto.com with information on the photography assignment and I will get back to you as soon as possible, or call me at 423.503.3922.
